The Terre Haute South Key Club in Indiana recently made a heartwarming donation through their "Karing Bears" initiative, thanks to a $500 grant from the Wabash Valley Community Foundation's youth division. With a maximum grant limit for high school student-led projects, the Key Club decided to purchase 96 bears to distribute between the local hospital's emergency room department and the Terre Haute Police Department. These bears serve as comforting companions for children during stressful times, whether at the hospital or in the midst of a challenging situation involving law enforcement. The Key Club's dedicated members, totaling approximately 65, took the time to tie kerchiefs around each bear's neck and pack them into boxes for delivery. Their final report not only detailed the financial breakdown but also highlighted the significant involvement of members and even featured a picture and article from the local newspaper's front page, showcasing the impact of their altruistic efforts.
